Cold Open Verse

  • Knockdown Center 52-19 Flushing Avenue Maspeth, NY, 11378 United States (map)

Blonde Art Books and Poet Transmit present an evening of video poetics by way of commissioned and open call theatrical trailers. Invited artists and writers collaborate with BABS and PT to produce commercials for newly published (or soon to be) books from a custom built TV studio.  These new works combined with open call submissions will culminate in the trailer reel, Cold Open Verse, that will be screened at Printed Matter's Book Fair at MOMA I PS1 on September 15th.

Blonde Art Books and Poet Transmit are organizations that focus on multiple modalities of poetic dissemination. The “book trailer” is an idealized theatrical showcase detailing the efforts of the poet and publisher to promote content and or themselves, via the televisual or teaser also known as the “cold open.” The compiled reel is part of a larger program, Cold Open Verse, at Knockdown Center, September 2016.

For the larger program at Knockdown Center, performances will activate exhibited sets for live broadcast. Participating artists/ writers include: Constance DeJong, Ian Hatcher, and Sophia La Fraga.
