Virtues of Disequilibrium: Performances by MV Carbon, Maria Chavez, Bonnie Jones,Victoria Keddie

Juan Betancurth hosts a wide array of sound and music-related performers, while every hour on the hour Caroline Woodard and Lika Volkova come alive under the Queens Museum’s central skylight. Live events by a range of artists include Unknown Packages, a performance by Jewyo Rhii with participating artists Rhii, Boram Moon, Ikjung Cho, Jinju Lee and Jihyun Jung, unfolding in the Studio Wing. Finally, outside around the Unisphere, Brian Zegeer presents Moses Meets the Prophet (A Treatise on the Nature of the Marks on the Face of the Moon) in which performers, costumed as New York City skyscrapers, tell the story of a fictional meeting between Robert Moses, the “Power Broker” responsible for Corona Park’s 1939 and 1964 Worlds’ Fairs, and Kahlil Gibran, author of The Prophet.

As part of Betancurth's exhibit, Virtues of Disequilibrium, performances by MV Carbon, Maria Chavez, and Victoria Keddie provide sonic presence to the characters of three sisters.
